Interview with Melantha Blackthorne of Bathoria.com (2004)

Screaming Stoner Video: How did you first get involved in modeling? At what point did you begin acting and what was your initial film?

Melantha Blackthorne: After surfing the net one evening I decided that I could put up a better product than much of what was already there. The next day I began constructing bathoria.com and my modeling career was launched! Shortly, I received an offer to play the lead in a film based loosely on the Countess Bathoria character entitled 'The Goddess'. As far as I know, it's still awaiting a distributor.

What is the coolest feedback you've received from your awesome movie Sinners and Saints so far?

Although all of the reviews we've gotten so far were positive the one received from Screaming Stoner Video is by far the most glowing.

Here are a couple of quotes from movie sites other than Screaming Stoner…

Film Threat - "In a sea of dull by-the-numbers cheapies, 'Sinners And Saints' stands out from the pack indeed".

Video Crypt - "This would've played well in the drive-ins back in the seventies. 'Sinners & Saints’ is never dull, it starts and finishes at full speed"

How did the idea come about? What can your fans expect next from Robomonkey Productions?

After meeting on another independent film shoot, Jason Cavalier and myself discovered that we had a couple of mutual interests, which were filmmaking and horror/action films. We decided to embark on or own project, one that would reflect our unique sensibilities [i.e., twisted sense of humor & paranoid conspiracy theories].

We are currently in pre production for a Zombie trilogy and planning a sequel for ‘Sinners And Saints’.

Can you tell us anything cool about The Night They Returned? What's it like working with Sv Bell?

I had an absolute blast working on this film. Kidnapping and feasting on men’s entrails has always been a favorite pastime of mine so you can imagine the look of delight on my face when I was asked to indulge myself in the role of a nymphomaniac cannibal *evil grin*

SV Bell is extremely generous and empathic which makes being on set a very pleasant experience. We have the same love of horror, boobies and blood, which truly makes for a synchronous relationship.

I will be working with him again in the very near future on another film entitled ‘Purple Glow’.

Do you have any favorite motion pictures? What's your favorite genre of film?

I love everything horror. Jose Mojica Marin is my absolute idol...all of the 'Coffin Joe' movies are of my prized possessions and let’s not forget Sam Rami’s Evil Dead II.

Aside from horror there is always that obscure Takashi Miike film that catch my attention and stand out above the rest. 'Visitor Q' and 'Ichi The Killer' are two good examples of this.

What type of music do you prefer? Please tell us you listen to Haggard, Crematory or Celestial Season...

After listening to the ‘Sinners And Saints’ soundtrack would you expect anything less *winks*

I adore Black, Doom and Death Metal! Here are a few of my favorites… Dimmu Boirgir, Therion, Tristania.

Do you feel that the indie horror film genre is progressing or regressing as a whole?

Progressing because the availability of digital equipment makes it much more accessible for everyone to make a movie…Regressing because that same accessibility floods the market with work that is of questionable quality in turn making it difficult for talented filmmakers to be taken seriously.

What is the coolest DVD you've seen in the last six months and why?

Released in 2002 I just recently came across a gem of a film entitled ‘May’. The acting was superb and the script extremely intelligent. Watching ‘May’ was an overall unique experience, gruesome, tragic, and most of all weird.

What are your opinions on the legalization of marijuana?

I'm sorry.....what did you just say?
